The Complete Guide to Coloured Pencil Techniques

Thought you might be interested to see a copy of my technique book, available through Amazon,

1st email submission - a rejection :(

Well, the first email submission came back a rejection. So that same day I reworked the cover letter and re-submitted it. That was just a week ago, so now it's a case of 'let's wait and see!'

Thought you might like to see a few more illustrations from

Eddy's New Suit, so here they are.

Hope you like them!

My first email submission has been sent!

Had the 2nd submission returned un-read. It contained a pre-printed postcard stating that '...we very much regret that we are currently unable to consider any new children's submissions'.

Oh well. Onwards and upwards!

Decided to submit to a very good, reputable agent who only accepts email submissions. I must admit this caused me a bit of a panic! When I send out a postal submission I can SEE and re-check the contents over and over until I'm happy to seal the envelope (a bit like a suitcase when going on holiday :) ), but with emails. I just wasn't sure if the JPEGS I was sending would open ok (it's been some time since I sent JPEGS). So after pressing the 'send' button, I panicked! Luckily DP was at home, so I forwarded a copy of the email to him so we could open and check it. Phew! It opened ok!

The photos shown are of the dummy book I've produced for Eddy's New Suit.

Another two of my characters

Another two of my characters, Little Rabbit and Mummy Rabbit.
It's difficult to say what the story's about without giving too much away! Sorry!

My first rejection

I sent my first submission out on the 23rd June. On Saturday 4th July I received a rejection. Yes, I felt deflated, but it was such a lovely positive rejection.

Two comments have kept me going ....'a beautifully presented parcel'........and 'there was a lot about the package that I liked'. Then came the 'but'. Never mind.

Left is a picture from one of the books. Eddy is a teddy who gets a new suit, and has been developed as a lift the flap novelty book. Obviously I won't be able to upload too much detail - copyright etc., but I hope you like him!

Hello!

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My dream is to have my picture books published, and this blog will document my journey. If you are a budding author/illustrator, please fell free to share your experiences too!

I will upload illustrations to give you a taster of what I do, plus other artwork. If you are new to using coloured pencils please feel free to ask questions.

I apologise if my posts are not regular, but some days there's not much to report.
